This pristine beach in actually a peninsula that separates the Destin Harbor on the north side, and East Pass on the southside. It is accessible by car with public paid parking at the end of Gulfshore Drive. Norriego Point offers calm waters ideal for swimming and snorkeling, thanks to its position protecting it from the Gulf’s stronger currents. With picturesque views of the Destin Harbor and the East Pass, it’s the perfect spot for an out of the way get away for a serene day by the water. During busy weekends, the harbor side is often lined with boats and yachts pulled up directly on the sand.

East Pass Jetties
Like Norriego, the beaches at the East Pass Jetties are accessible at the Public Beach access near the end of Gulfshore Drive. It’s a bit of hike from the entrance all the way to the Jetties, but the walk is worth it if you like a relatively secluded spot. The Jetties offer spectacular snorkeling but ONLY safe on the north side of the first set of rocks where you can easily wade in. You’ll see other snorkelers but beware there is a super strong current as you approach to the tip of the rocks – so avoid the deeper or risk being pulled out to sea. The Jetties offer the likelihood of seeing marine life such as fish, dolphins, and turtles. You’ll see fisherman walk out to the end but the rocks are slipper so that is not recommended.

Henderson Beach State Park
While not entirely secret, Henderson Beach State Park is often less crowded than Destin’s main public beaches. This state park boasts over 6,000 feet of natural scenic shoreline, providing ample space for visitors to spread out and enjoy the beauty of the Gulf Coast. The park’s dune ecosystem, hiking trails, and picnic areas make it a versatile destination for both beachgoers and nature enthusiasts. Of note; a spectacular underwater reef is just out past the second sandbar on the western edge of Henderson Beach. Okaloosa County set out over 50 fish-attracting circular reefs that mimic a coral reef in one spot that makes for amazing snorkeling on calm days. Warning – not recommended to swim out, much safer to access via a boat.

Grayton Beach State Park
A bit further out, but well worth the trip, Grayton Beach State Park is located about 20 miles east of Destin. This beach is often hailed as one of the most beautiful in the United States, featuring sugar-white sand and crystal-clear waters.
